The spies are out in action for Farming Eye today at Ruthin for the second of the major Welsh show calf potential sales and judge Berwyn Hughes has just awarded his unhaltered championship to Trefor Jones, Llanllyfni, with his British Blue x Limousin heifer. This one is by Annanwater Connery, a Gitan son, and is out of a pedigree Limousin dam.
Taking the reserve was David John Lloyd and Co, Caersws, with a Limousin cross heifer. Winning the unhaltered steer class was Messrs H D and M Wynne Pugh, Tywyn, with a British Blue cross.
Winning the first of the haltered steer classes, for British Blue crosses, was T M and E E Williams, Llanidloes, with a calf by Boothlow Alan, an Affute son, out of a Black Limousin dam. Second was D B, H and I D Owen, Holyhead, while third went to J L and D A Davies, Clifton upon Dunsmore.
Winning of the Charolais sired steer class (just one entry in the class) was I G Roberts, Bala.
Taking the lead in the Limousin steer class was the Bowen and Bowen Partnership, Welshppol, with a strong calf out of a good team. This one is by Liscopn Bigshow, who is a son of Cloughhead Titanic and is out of a Blue x Limousin dam. Second place went to Messrs D S, D A and P D Brute, Brecon, while third went to David John lloyd and Co, Caersws. Winning the class for a steer calf sired by Any Other Breed was a Blonde cross from T M and E E Williams, Llanidloes. This was the only entry in the class.
