The Baul family, Bishop Thornton led the trade at Skiipton’s Craven Dairy sale on Monday with their pre-sale champion, a fresh calved heifer selling at £2080 to show judge Malcolm Abbot.

Next best at the opening March fixture was the second prize heifer from Calton’s Robert Crisp, which found a new home in Wharfedale when acquired for £2000 by P Crabtree and Son, Otley.

With a small show of average quality, heifer prices in general ranged from £1600 and £1750, and to an overall average of £1584. (Craven Cattle Marts).
