Yesterday’s sale of black and white bulls at Carlisle for the Border and Lakeland Holstein Club saw trade top at 7000gns.

Taking the day’s top price and champion ticket was Annandale Haven from William Armour. This Gen-Mark Stmatic son is ET bred out of Aintree Addison Nugget, an Ex93 dam by Etazon Addison. He is maternal brother to 8000gns bull Aintree Network and also to 4000gns Aintree Nebraska, as well as being maternal brother to Aintree Nannerch, a bull currently on text at Cogent. He sold to P R Stewart and Co, Falside, Fife.

Second best price was a 6300gns bid for another from the same home, Annandale Villa. This third prize winning bull is by Duplex and out of Annandale Stormatic Farrah, a VG86 classified dam with a heifer lactation of more than 11,000kg and a second lactation of more than 13,000kg. He was snapped up by  W Meredith, North Tarwathie , Aberdeen.

Then making 5900gns was the first prize winning bull from the intermediate class Warnelview Rolo from K J and C S Wilson, Wood Farm, Carlisle.  He was sired by Knowledge and bred from ten Excellent dams from the much admired Bricknell Ruby family. Buying this one was Usan Estate, Usan House, Angus.

And collecting a bid of 5000gns was the day’s reserve champion, Gerrard Alli from R H Carter and Son, Gerrard House, Wigton.  He was sired by Golden-Oaks St Alexander and from their homebred Jewel family with outstanding butterfat and protein. He now joins the herd of T Forsyth, Isle Farm, Wigtownshire.
