The dispersal of Julian and Valerie Green’s non recorded dairy herd drew a large crowd of buyers, with the lack of records not deterring buyers.
The use of good AI bulls showed through according to the auctionners and young cows were in demand selling to a top of 2200gns for a Dalton daughter due to calve her second in May, others by the same bull sold to 2050gns.
Geno daughters were also a feature of the sale selling to 2050gns for a third calver due again in June to Moviestar with others at 2000gns.
Three year old in-calf heifers due in May to Ked Merchant Mickey topped at 1720gns for daughters of Bo-Irish RJ Ready. Others due in May by Hidden-View Best sold to 1650gns on three occasions.
Strong bulling heifers by Nonicote Murphy sold to 1280gns with Ready daughters at 1250gns. Yearling heifer calves sold to 900gns for daughters of Crockett- Acres Elias and Walhowden Harry, while autumn born heifer calves by O-Bee Known sold to 660gns.
Averages; 140 dairy cows £1428, 28 in-calf heifers £1630, 37 bulling heifers £1192, 43 yearling and younger heifers £796, five heifer calves £603 (Greenslade Taylor Hunt).
