Today’s Blacks on Draft sale of Abderdeen-Angus at Carrick on Shannon from Michael Sheahan’s Luddenmore herd was topped at €7700 by Prohurst Judy J145, a Young Dale Touchdown 36M daughter out of Duncanziemere Judy D147. She stood female champion in the pre-sale show. She sold to D King, Newcastle, Co Down.
Following that at €6800 was Luddenmore Fleur L134, another by Touchdown and out of Netherallan Fleur B199, a Dalrene Cruz 11F daughter. And then trading at €6400 was Luddenmore Ellen Erica K098. This Rawburn Rommel daughter is out of Elliot Erica E019, a Roth Regulator 0405 daughter. Buying her was P Henry, Tubbercurry, Co Sligo.

Next best was a €6000 call for Luddenmore Elba K085, another by Touchdown and this time out of Netherallan Elba F057, a Vermillion Payweight 5847 daughter. She has stood reserve female champion in the pre-sale show and was knocked down to Ryanair chief executive Michale O’Leary, for his Gigginstwon House herd, Mullingar, Co Westmeath.
Mr King, the buyer of the top priced lot also paid €5800 for Luddenmore Elba J070, a Rawburn Rommel E423 daughter out of the Vermilion Payweight J847 daughter Netherallan Elba F057, as well as €4200 for Luddenmore Jody K075, another Toughdown daughter, this time out of the Newcairnie Pastor daughter Duncanziemere Jody G263.
And selling at €4800 to Irish Aberdeen-Angus Association President John Tait and his wife Kate, was the ET-bred Luddenmore Miss Essence J071, a DMM Posi Traction 57P daughter out of the DMM Traction 109J daughter DMM Miss Essence 147H.
Mr O’Leary also paid €4600 for Luddenmore Kim K086, another Touchdown daughter, this time out of the Netherton Royal Sovereign A072 daughter Halbeath Kirsty E140.
A €4100 bid then secured Luddenmore Rosa Erica J065. This Young Dale Superior 14S daughter is out of Aynho Rosa Erica D231, a Belvin Kincaid daughter and was sold to Messrs Ronayne, Claremorris, Co Mayo, while just shy of that at €4000 was Luddenmore Jody K077, another by Touchdown and out of Duncanziemere Jody D147, making her a full sister to the sale topper. This one was knocked down to N O’Laoghaire.
The Blacks on Draft sale was held in conjunction with the April Carrick sale of Aberdeen-Angus bulls and females of which the champion and top priced bull at €6700 was Bunlahy Hector from Messrs Reynolds, Longford. By Mogeely Joe H979, he is out of the Netherton Fabulous Cruz Y300 daughter Bunlahy Bianca H230 and was knocked down to The O’Kane Bros, Ballymena, Co Antrim.
Next best in the bulls at €6000 was Drumcrow Path of Life from Frank McKiernan, Ballinagh. By Luddenmore Fionn G441, he is out of The Moss Mr Eshton daughter Drumcrow Posie H313 and was sold to J McKibben, Kilkeel, Co Down.
