Saturday’s regular dairy sale at Sedgemoor  saw another strong entry of cows and heifers which was dominated by a show of heifers from Honiton Young Farmers who staged their annual Show and Sale.

Leading the trade at £2240 was a Walkabout sired heifer from Jack Bartlett which sold to John Gardner, Cornwall. Mr Gardner bought a further eight lots, including a brace of commercial heifers from R L and M E Trott and M and K Churchill at £2230 apiece. He also bought the day’s champion heifer, a Minne from Chris Reed, at £2210.

Pedigree in-calf heifers sold to £2220 for a Walkabout Lupin daughter entered by Nicky Bishop. She was secured by Brian Clothier for his Hillstone herd on the Mendips.

A good entry of Holstein calves sold to £320 thrice for D E and W M Headon, while  Brown Swiss cross calves reached £250 from Andy Neill Farm Services and Shorthorn cross calves got to £260. Montbeliarde calves topped at £240 from L E Simmons and Partners. (Greenslade Taylor Hunt).
