Judge and Jersey breeder Jenny Daw tapped out the overall Holstein champion to take the top spot earlier this morning. Hilltara Damion Maude 5 from Samuel McCormick is an October 2007-born daughter of Erbacres Damion out of the Ex94 Hilltara Storm Maude and is currently giving 50 litres as a second calver. This was her first outing and likely only outing this year, but she was honourable mention at last year’s winter fair and was reserve heifer champion here two years ago.
Standing reserve interbreed champion was the Ayrshire champion, the Ocotber 2005-born fourth calver Ravenhill Ethel 395, an Ex 92 Woodland View Pardner daughter from John Suffern. She is out of the Ex91 Ravenhill Ethel 290 and has currently given 10,500 litres in this lactation. This is Mr Suffern’s 60th year in Ayrshires and earlier this morning he celebrated his 30th Ayrshire Balmoral championship.
Winning the Dairy Shorthorn championship and taking the honourable mention title was the February 2007-born Lincool Heather 10th who is owned in partnership with John Henning and Ashley Fleming of Sunrise Shorthorns. By Irthingvale Lilians Rebel she is out of Lincool heather 8th and is an Ex 92 second claver who is projected to give 9477 litres this year.
The reserve Dairy Shorthorn championship went to Beechview BS Whitetail from Messrs Booth. This one is a January 2008-born Beechview Snowdamshof daughter.
Taking the Jersey championship was Clandeboye Estate with the junior cow Fordwich Comerica Genevive, a January 2009-born Bridon Remake Corerica daughter who is giving 23 litres a day as a second calver having given 4400 litres as a heifer. The reserve went to the second place cow in the same class, Potterswalls Sultans Sangria from the Fleming Family. This March 2009-born female is a daughter of SHF Centurion.
The reserve holstein championship went to Clandeboye Estate with Clandeboye Champion Francesca, a Calbrett-1 HH Champion daughter, while the reserve spot int he Ayrshire ring went to John Suffern with Ravenhill Bell, a Kellcrest Iceman daughter.
