Jane Smith’s Whitepool herd took the top four prices of the day when it was dispersed within the Belted Galloway Society’s spring show and sale at Worcester.

Top call of the day at 3500gns went to Whitepool Nicole, a calved heifer with heifer calf at foot. This one had stood reserve female champion in the pre-sale show and enjoyed a successful show career last summer, having won at North Somerset, Bath and West and Great Yorkshire.

Taking this one was James Alexander, Co Antrim, better known for producing show calves from the Jalex herd. The day’s female champion also from Jane Smith, Whitepool Moonbeam I, a maiden heifer by noted sire Southfield Double O Seven enjoyed spirited bidding and levelled at 3100gns to an undisclosed bidder.

Mr Alexander was then back in action paying 3000gns for Whitepool Moondancer, a fifth calver by Bolebec Dun Concord with heifer calf at foot.

Another maiden heifer Whitepool Naomi also by Double-O-Seven made 2650gns when selling to R J Huxham, Isle of Man.

Next best was the dearest priced bull of the sale, Hillfield Turbo from the Long family, Norfolk. Having stood reserve male champion in the pre-sale show he sold at 2500gns J Kerr, Matlock, Derby.

And at 2400gns was the day’s male and overall champion Kirkland Alan from P and L Stafford. He was knocked down after some spirited bidding to M J Bull, Ringwood, Hampshire.
