Store cattle sold to sharp trade at Quoybrae yesterday in the centre’s show and sale, with 232 bullocks levelling the day at 219.4p/kg and 199 heifers averaging 203.7p/kg.
Taking the day’s best price of £1500 was the champion from the pre-sale show, a 695kg Charolais from D A Budge, Castletown. This one was knocked down to the day’s judge Angus Cumming, Ellon.
Best of the heifers forward was a £1400 call for a 417kg Simmental from Bayview, Freswick, with the best p/kg price in the heifers being 335.7p/kg for the same beast.
Other leading prices included another 602kg Charolais steer from Mr Budge at £1400 and the day’s reserve champion from D Kennedy, Tresdale, at £1040. This 444kg Charolais heifer sold to W and J Cameron, Grange.
In the 32 breeding cattle offered the best call was a £2550 bid for a British Blue cow with a Limousin sired calf at foot from Blingery Farm, Wick.
