A small turn out of just eight dairy cattle were forward at Skipton yesterday, but that didn’t hinder the trade with four of the eight selling at £2200 apiece.
Both the champion and reserve were among these top price makers, with both coming from Jeremy Taylor’s Smellows herd at Broughton. Taking the championship was Smellows Matson Duchess, an Autumn-Ridge Matson daughter sold giving 30kg a day.
Meanwhile, taking the reserve championship for Mr Taylor was Smellows Princess 12, an Asken Reece daughter sold giving 33kg a day. Both these sold to Stephen James, Glusburn.
Taking the next £2200 bid were Raymond and Robert Johnson, Felliscliffe, with their third prize fresh heifer. The final call at this money came for a fresh calved heifer from Robert Crisp, Calton, with both of these being bought by Stepehn Breare, Silsden.
Average; fresh calved heifers £1941 (Craven Cattle Marts).
