Topping the trade in the reduction sale for the Millars Texel flock at Carlisle is an 11,000gns call for a Mellor Vale Masterpiece daughter, VMG09786, an ET bred ewe out of a dam by Corrie Lancelot. She is a full sister to Millars Outstanding and has bred lambs to 2500gns. Buyer here was J C Innes and Sons, Huntly, Aberdeenshire.

Next best at 4200gns is a 2010-born ewe by Kelso President, VMG1000076. Again ET bred she is out of a Masterpiece daughter and share’s a grand dam with a ewe which has sold lambs to 4000gns. She has an index of 263 and was knocked down to R I Henderson, Stocksfield on Tyne.

Close behind that at 4000gns was a 2010-born Milnbank Principal daughter, VMG1000045, out of a dam by Thinacres Madrid. This one sold with an index of 220 and went to Bruce Goldie, Dumfries. And at the same money was another Masterpiece daughter, VMG08516. She is out of a dam by Crailloch Galaxy and is maternal half sister to 20 tups which have averaged more than 2500gns. She was kn0ocked down to previous buyer Mr Henderson.

And just shy of that figure at 3900gns was a 2010-born ewe by Cambwell OBE. This one, VMG1000124, is out of a dam by Masterpiece which was reserve interbreed champion at Ballymoney in 2010. She is maternal sister to the last one at 4000gns and sold to J and S Wilkinson, Richmond, North Yorkshire.

A 3800gns bid secured a 2010-born daughter of Masterpiece, VMG1000122. She is ET bred out of a dam by Corrie Lancelot and is a full sister to 29,000gns tup Millars Outstanding. She heads back across the water with P O’Connor, Seaforde, Northern Ireland. The same buyer also paid 3200gns for the 2009-born Cambwell OBE daughter. She is VMG09842 and is out of a dam by Crailloch Galaxy and has an index of 264.

Selling at 3000gns was a Sportsmans Pele daughter out of a dam by Rams Gold Dust, VMG1000110. She has an index of 229 and was knocked down to G and M Wilson and Sons, Appleby, Cumbria, while making 2900gns was a Corrie Lancelot daughter, VMG06152. This twin born ewe is out of a Gold Dust daughter and is grand dam to two lambs heading to Lanark. She sold to R E and R F Scott, Banff, Aberdeenshire.

Following her at 2800gns was another full ET sister of Outstanding, VMG1000139. She has an index of 198 and went to J and W Mellin, Skipton, North Yorks, while at at 2500gns was another by Masterpiece, VMG09736. She is out of a Thinacres Madrid daughter and has an index of 182 and changed hands with A Bunting and Son, New Abbey, Dumfires.
