Texels sold to a top of 2700gns at Chelford today in the North West Texel Club’s Elite sale. In a trade described by some ringsiders as lacklustre the top price was paid for a gimmer from the Tophill flock of David and Jane Houghton.

This gimmer, HPH1100229 is an ET bred daughter of Tophill Rocket and is out of a Knock Orion daughter, a half share of which was sold for 3500gns. This one found a new home with Messrs Beech’s Ormerley flock.

Second best of the sale came when 2100gns was paid for a Hen Capel Royal Gold daughter from Charlie Boden’s Sportsmans flock. This was BGS1100291, another ET bred and this time out of a dam by Baltier Kracker. Buying her was Richard Vernon for the Hazelhood flock.

A full sister to one of the most admired ewe lambs on the show circuit this year then sold at 2000gns for William McCaffrey’s Scholars flock. This was YWM1200056, a Gyros Rambo daughter out of a dam by Mellor Vale Masterpiece. She was bought by D Bennett for the Plasucha flock.

Following her at 1250gns was the best bid of the day for a ram, a shearling from Michael Turner’s Okehall flock. This was Fachell Sweetie Boy, a son of Fachell Nutter out of a dam by Castlecairn Latin. He had previously been champion at the Derbyshire Texel Club’s open day earlier in the year.

Another Sportsmans gimmer then sold at 1050gns, with this one, BGS1100292,  being an ET bred daughter of Cowal Rob Roy II, a 22,000gns buy from Lanark in 2010. She is out of an Ettrick Mighty Mouse daughter.

And making 980gns was a gimmer from Peter Woof’s Stainton flock. This one, WPS1100141,  is by Douganhill McFly and out of a dam by Cambwell Mountain. (Frank Marshall).
