A ram lamb by Penparc Spitfire and out of dam by Knock Powerpacker led the trade at the dispersal of the Kingsland flock of Texels at Worcester today for Peter Vaughan, selling for 15,000gns.

The lamb, VPK1200983, was regarded by the Vaughans as possibly the best they’d bred in the nine years of Texel breeding and this belief was reflected by the ringside when Malcolm Reid had to dig deep to secure him for the Kelso flock. He had previously been shown at the Great Yorkshire, collecting a fourth ticket in a strong class.

Second best of the day was a 6000gns sale for the dam of the 15,000gns ram lamb, VPK100048. This one is ET bred and is by Powerpacker and out of a dam by the great breeding tup Muiresk Blondin. She sold to the same new home as her son, joining the wagon back to Scotland with Malcolm Reid.

And Mr Reid was back in the bidding when taking the next best priced lot at 5000gns. This was a ewe lamb, VPK1200973, a full sister to the 15,000gns tup lamb, with Mr Reid clearly taken with this family.

Next best from the Kingland flock after that was a was a 2800gns call for a 2009-born ewe by Sportsmans Ocean and out of a dam by Alwent Major Force. This was VPK09129 and sold to Stephen Cobbold.

Selling for 2500gns was a 2008-born ewe, VPK08149. This one is ET bred by Garngour Nijinsky and out of a dam by Penparc Lexus. She was bought by Lexus’ breeder Steve Smith for the Penparc flock.

And then at 2400gns came a 2012-born ewe by Powerpacker, VPK1000042, out of a dam by Blondin.

And selling for 2600gns was stock ram Meadowyale Royale. Sired by Kelso Prostar he is out of a dam by Ettrick Nutcracker and has been shown successfully, including being breed champion at Bucks County in 2011.
