Friday’s Rouge sale at Carlisle saw a top price of 1200gns paid for the best of the shearling rams from Angus Howie’s Millhouse flock. This was Millhouse Lets Dance (lot 1721), a son of a Knighton tup out of Broadwood Jersey, a Carscreugh Kingpin daughter. He sold to J C Crust, Spilsby.
Following that at 1000gns was another from the same home, Millhouse Look Out. This one, by the same sire, is out of another Broadwood ewe, this time a daughter of Broadwood Dynamo. He sold to J Gate Northwich.
After him came an 800gns bid for the day’s pre-sale champion, a Knighton shearling tup from Percy Tait. This one is by Romer Harry and out of Knighton Flora, a Broadwood Dickie daughter.
Females
At 900gns was the best of the females sold on the day, Tullyvallen Lady from M and A Graham. This shearling ewe is by Tullvallen J6 and out of Tullyvallen Jest, a Drumkirk Victorious daughter. She had been female champion on the day and sold to A J Graham, Antrim.
And just 100gns shy of this was another from Messrs Graham, Tullyvallen Lady’s Choice, a Kinsella Kit Kat daughter out of a Broadwood Aristocrat daughter. She was bought by A J and O F Norbury, Chelford.
Averages; 19 shearling rams £618.95, 37 ram lambs £387.93, three aged rams £539, six ewes £266, 10 shearling ewes £266, 18 ewe lambs £268.33 (Harrison and Hetherington).
