The Logan herd reduction certainly was the main attraction at yesterday’s sale of Charolais females in Carlisle, as the offering from the Hyslop family attracted the top call of the day of 6700gns.
Sale leader was the April 2005-born Logan Amber, a Logan Sparticus daughter out of the Mountpleasant Ambrose daughter Logan Fona. With a Woodline Equity-sired May-born bull calf at foot, she sold to Danny Swrij for his Swalesmoor herd, Halifax, West Yorkshire.
Next up at selling for 6300gns as an outfit was the June 2008-born Logan Dubacilla, a Logan Amazon daughter out of the Logan Sparticus daughter Logan Vinnie. She sold for 2900gns to A and J Clark, Stranraer, while her July 2011-born bull calf Logan Geordie by Ramses sold for 3400gns to A McCornick, Dumfries.
And just shy of that at 6100gns was another cow and calf outfit, Logan Dream. This November 2008-born female is another Amazon daughter, this time out of a Logan judge daughter, Logan Tammy. She was knocked down at 2900gns to Andrew Ewing, along with her June 2011-born calf by Ramses to the same bidder for 3200gns.
Then at 5000gns the May 2009-born Logan Elegant switched hands to D Bloomfield, Woodbridge, Suffolk. By Amazon again, she is out of the Sparticus daughter Logan Bramble and sold having been AI’d to Ramses.
The reduction of the Mowbraypark herd saw a top price of 2800gns for the May 2010-born Mowbraypark Fleur, a Fairway Bruce daughter out of the Inverlochy Resolve daughter Mowbraypark Bunt. She was knocked down to A Slack, Appleby, Cumbria.
Then the Mornity herd sale topped at 2500gns, for the November 2010-born Mornity Fawn. By Blelack Challenger, she is out of the Balthayock Upright daughter Mornity Bambi and sold to Messrs Nicholas and Heath, Chester.
