Scottish breeders took the top places at last night’s pre-sale show at the Welsh National Texel sale, Welshpool, with the championship going to a ram lamb from the Clark family’s Garngour flock, Garngour Trail Blazer.
Sired by Strathbogie Smokey Blue, the sire of the Clarks 17,000gns Teiglum lamb at Lanark this week, he is out of a Teiglum ewe by Kiltariff Osprey and had won the novice class before going on to take the male and overall titles.
Standing reserve overall was the female champion, the first prize gimmer from the Campbell family’s Cowal flock. This one (lot 94), is by Baltier Rascal I and out of a dam by Millar’s Only One.
Standing reserve in the males was the winner of the shearling tup class, Llegodig Sing Song (lot 275) from the Orrell family. He’s by Llegodig Reunion and out of a dam by Hollyford Nijinsky.
Reserve in the females was the second prize gimmer from Peter Woof, Stainton (lot 72). She is by Stainton Ricochet and out of a dam by Knock Oyster.
