Topping the Southdowns at Worcester on Saturday was a call of 480gns for a shearling ram from the Humphrey family’s East Dean flock. This was East Dean 11/00420, a son of Ridings 09/1664 out of a dam by Steepdown A32. He sold to Messrs Westwood, Halesowen.
Then at 380gns was another from the same home, shearling tup East Dean 11/00500. Sired by East Dean 09/2131, he is out of a dam by East Dean A9 and sold to Messrs Hulme, Staffordshire.
Selling at 370gns was a shearling ram from Philip Whitcombe’s Southern Cross flock. This one, Southern Cross 11/00221 is by Rusper Coalition and out of a dam by East Dean Guardsman.
And selling for 350gns was a ram lamb from the same home and by an New Zealand sire from the Tralee flock. This one, Southern Cross 12/03010, is out of a dam by Green Cross S12 and sold to Messrs Singleton.
The same vendor and buyer combination then accounted for the next best price too, when senior ram Southern Cross 10/00078 sold at 330gns. He is by Southern Cross Bradman and out of a dam by East Dean Teddy.
Best price in the shearling ewes was a 250gns bid from Linda Western for a shearling ewe from Messrs Humphrey. This was East Dean 11/00433. Sired by East Dean 09/2131 she is out of a Farleigh dam.
At the same money was a ewe lamb from Michael and Gail Sprake’s All Saints flock. This was All Saints 12/00132, a daughter Chaileybrook Charlie out of an All Saints dam.
And selling at 220gns was a shearling ewe from Howard Wood’s Prescoed flock, Prescoed 11/00052. Sired by Southern Cross 06/0010 she is out of a Fforest dam and sold to Messrs Singleton.
