Trade for suckled calves has been on fire this evening at Caledonian Mart’s Stirling sale with the reserve champion Ginger Bread, a Charolais cross Limousin heifer from James McLaren. This one is by Falleninch Empire out of a Lim x Blue cow and was knocked down at £9500 to Jason and Sarah Wareham, who were buying on behalf of an undisclosed buyer.

Next best at £3200 was the Robertson family of Logierait with the first place heifer which was champion at Perth Show. This one was knocked down to Donald Morrison.

Then at £3000 was another from the same home, this time the second prize Limousin autumn born heifer which sold to Jennifer Hyslop, while the overall and autumn born champion which came out of the same class as the £3000 heifer, sold to previous buyers Jason and Sarah Wareham. This one is by Fedneyhouse Dapper and out of a British Blue cross cow.

Then at £2500 was the Kintyre trophy winner, a Charolais heifer by West Carse Ernie. This 220kg heifer was knocked down to Dermot Small, while at £2300 was the spring born champion from Brian Harper by Eagleshead Exterminator.
