When does the man on the Clapham omnibus ever read the farming press? Probably never. Anyway, the public and maybe even politicians are not so stupid as to think that one or two daft prices are typical of the entire industry. We're operating in a free market with all farm produce, including Mule ewe lambs, and whether or not we get what we think is a fair price depends on many factors, most of which are outwith the control of politicians. People are free to spend, or waste, their money on whatever takes their fancy, whether it be Swaledale tups or Mule ewe lambs. It's not that important.

I agree with Chris pears it looks bad on farmers when not only the general public reads these reports but also the politicians whom we,the farmers, are trying to convince to let us have a fair price for the things which we produce.

All i was saying was it just seems to be abit extreme to be fully true. No doubt what so ever that thel be quality lambs because lords do breed top end gimmers and tups. Just stating my view but if two people want to chase lambs to that price, send them my why!

Why do you feel the need to complain about this. Your average Joe Public won't know what price a lamb should be anyway.
At least this is one positive thing in a year which hasn't been great so just enjoy it as it shows a bit of optimism in the sheep job from someone at least.

Good luck to them!

Blummen daft when its getting to that price for mule lambs, dosent look good to non farming folk when they read somthing like that at times. Can see why farmers get bad press when you see such daft prices at times when these are just commercial lambs and not pedigress
