Ram trade at Saturday’s Lleyn sale at Welshpool was led at 1400gns by the champion, a shearling ram from H and M Dugdale, Settle, which sold to G and A Fort, Keighley.
Second best of the sale was one from D N Bennett and Son at 980gns. This one, by a Goldie sire, had stood second in the pre-sale show and sold to M White, Corfield. Robert Bennett, Powys, then sold his third prize winning shearling at 780gns to G Williams, Meifod.
The female section saw exceptional clearances, with a 100% clearance in the shearling ewe section. Topping these were W J and D J Williams, Nefyn, at £255 when their second prize winning pair sold to E L L Williams, Gwynedd.
The third prize pen from D N Bennett and Son, Powys, then sold for £238/head to N Legge, Leominster, while Christine Lewis, Powys, sold her first prize pen for £225/head to W P Davies, LLanelwy.
In the ewe lamb section once again W J and D J Williams were at the top when selling the champion pen for £170/head to A Pritchard, Deeside. D N Bennett and Son sold the third prize pen for £160/head to N Legge, Leominster, while D A Jones, Powys, sold the second prize pen for £150/head to E M Evans, Oswestry.
