Monday’s Ulster Blackface sale at Ballymena saw a top price of 10,000gns paid for a Lanark-type shearling from Charlie Phillips, Draperstown.

Second best of the day was an 8000gns call for a Perth-type ram lamb from Messrs Harkin Bros, Donemana.

This was then followed by a 6000gns bid for another Lanark-type shearling from Brendan McAllister, Glenarm.

And at 4500gns was another of the Perth-type lambs from Conway Bros, Plumbridge, with one from Owen and Paul McEvoy making 4000gns.

A Lanark-type ram lamb from Eoin McKenna, Maghera, then sold at 3400gns, with a shearling from Robert Loughery, Limavady, making 3000gns and a pair of shearlings from Brendan McAllister selling at 2000gns apiece.
At 3000gns in the Perth-type lambs was one from Tom Adams, while Charlie Gallagher, Donemana, took 2000gns for another.
Averages; 134 Lanark-type shearling rams £716, 34 Lanark-type ram lambs £451, 39 Perth-type shearlings £382, 57 Perth-type ram lambs £932 (Ballymena Farmers Mart).
