Last Thursday’s Easycare sheep sale at Carlisle saw trade peak at 620gns  for a shearling tup from Bruce Goldie, Townfoot.

The April 2011 born ram, with Glenapp breeding on its paternal line, was knocked down to W Garnett and Son, Skipton, North Yorkshire.

Second best price of the day in the tups was a 550gns bid for one from Barony College, with this one by an Ireby Hall sire selling to Brian Atkinson, Scrathmere Scar, Plumpton, Cumbria.

The College then led the way in the female section, with two pens of shearling ewes trading at £152 and £145, both bought by Coney Farms, Grantham, Lincolnshire.

Averages; MV section – four aged rams £160.13, three shearling rams £315, three ram lambs £203, 247 ewes £84.02; Non-MV section – three aged rams £184.80, five shearling rams £258.30, two ram lambs £105, 99 senior ewes £113.07, 93 shearling ewes £92.56, 48 ewe lambs £68.21 (Harrison and Hetherington).
