Leading the Bluefaced Leicester trade at 5500gns at Carlisle is a Shafthill lamb from John Smith-Jackson. This son of Shafthill C2 is out of a dam by Shafthill Z4 (lot 443). He sold to R J Shennan, Girvan.

Then making 5000gns was the second lamb in from the Lord family, Hewgill, (lot 533) with this one being a son of Hewgill B41 out of a dam by Hewgill Z14.  This one was bought by A J Mason, Embsay.

And a pair then sold at 4500gns with the first of these being a shearling from Messrs Gass, Nunscleugh. This son of Nunscleugh A8 is out of a dam by Bull and Cave V3 (lot 130) and was taken by J R F Pattinson, Hexham.

The second to sell at this money was a lamb from the Lords ( lot 534). Sired again by Hewgill B41 he is out of another Z14 daughter.He sold to W Ridley, Hesket-Newmarket.

Close behind him at 4000gns was a full brother to the first Hewgill lamb (lot 532) when selling to B T Blaney, Co Antrim.

Following that at 3600gns was a lamb from Allan and Watson, Lakethwaite. Sired by Barley Z19 this one (lot 503) is out of a dam by Swathburn Z1. He was shared by Messrs Armstrong, Kirkoswald, and Messrs Raine, also Kirkoswald.

John Smith-Jackson then sold again at 3500gns, taking this money for a Shafthill C3 son out of a dam by Shafthill S16, he was knocked down to J M Cockburn, Kirkby Stephen. And at 3200gns was a lamb from D Brigh, Black Edge. This is a son of Midlock D42 out of a dam by Shafthill A10 and was taken by R A Lund, Llandidrod Wells.
