Sale leader in the Blue ring at Carlisle today was the reserve male and reserve overall champion Bluegrass Famous, a November 2010-born ET-bred son of Heros Du Peroy out of the Bringlee Waldo daughter Bluegrass Centrefold from the Raine family. He was knocked down at 10,000gns to Messrs Flemming, Kelso, Roxburghshire.
Next best at 8200gns was the male and overall champion Tamhorn Goliath from Danny and Jane Wyllie. This ET-bred March 2011-born Ballygrange Alex son is out of the Tamhorn Sumo daughter Tamhorn Buttercup and sold to J L Hartley, Much Wenlock, Shropshire.
Just shy of that at 8000gns was Mel and Diane Lucas with the June 2011-born Lukeroyal Gladiator, an ET-bred Lukeroyal Battle Axe son out of the Twyning Ash Vaughan daughter Lukeroyal Clarabelle who was reserve overall champion in Carlisle May 2011. This one sold to K A Brown and Sons, Appleby, Cumbria.
Then came another from the Wyllie’s this time the March 2011-born Tamhorn Gibson, an ET son of Tamhorn Sumo out of the Gib Van Het Negenbond daughter Gregmaur Brandy. He was knocked down at 7000gns to B R Fawcett, Leyburn, North Yorks.
Andrew Coppinger’s Drews Goliath, an ET-bred May 2011-born Empire son then went at 6500gns. Out of the Colibri Du Coin daughter Bringlee Beth, he went to J D Yeats, Haltwhistle, Northumberland.
Next best so far with a call of 5200gns is Maulcastle Farming Compnay with Solway View Fancy Mover, a September 2010-born ET-bred son of Gitan. This one is out of the Blak Du Baty D’Eprave daughter Annanwater Wispa and is full brother to Solway View Firecracker, reseve interbreed champion RHAS 2012.
In the females, three of them went to 5000gns, the first of which was Maulcastle Farming Compnay’s September 2010-born olway View Foxy Lady, an ET-bred Colos Van Daisel daughter out of the Tamhorn Sumo daughter Springfield Carissa. This one was junior and reserve female and reserve breed champion at the Great yorkshire Show this year and sold to R Young, Stewarton, East Ayrshire.
Next best at this money was the female champion Willnant Gina, an ET-bred heifer from Adrian Williams. By Mountjoy Utopia, she is out of the Twyning Ash Vaughan daughter Lukeroyal Bimbo and sold to James Alexander, Randaldstown, Northern Ireland.
The third at this money was New Close Hope from I E Wilson. By Colus Van Daisel again, this one is out of the Blak Du Baty daughter New Close Cilla Blak and was overall champion at the North West Club calf show last month and sold to MSH Benson, Ulverston, Cumbria.
Averages: 18 bulls £4643.33 (+£1037.41); 8 maiden heifers £3077.81 (Harrison and Hetherington).
