Trade in the Charollais females at today’s Saucy Sale at Worcester was more selective than in previous years, with auctioneer Clive Roads recording averages back on last year’s trade. “But on the season it was a good trade and we had buyers from all parts of the UK in attendance eager to buy the best.”
Leading the day’s prices was the Tullyear flock of Drew and Stephen Cowan with a gimmer, 11QY00321 (lot 73). This one, a daughter of Arjane Kukrir sold at 2700gns to Esmor Evans, Mold, and is out of a dam by Logie Durno Finnegan. She sold in-lamb to Lisfuncheon Limited Edition.
Second top was a bid of 1800gns from J Kennedy, Maybole, for an Arjane Klansman daughter from the Logie Durno flock of Willie and Carole Ingram. This gimmer (lot 19) 11ZNN02277 is out of a dam by Crogham Hannibal II. This one was in-lamb to Ffrwd Lord of the Ring.
Then came a pair at 1750gns, with the first at this money also from the Logie Durno offering and was a gimmer by Logie Durno King and out of a dam by Foulrice Eurostar. She was carrying twins to Ffrrwd Lord of the Ring. She was snapped up by P McLaughlin, Co Fermanagh.
The other to make this price was bought by Mr Kennedy. This was a ewe lamb from Jonathan Aiken’s Carnew flock, 12ZXJ00328, by Castellau Lord and out of a dam by Loaningfoot Highlander.
Trading at 1200gns was Robert and Jean Gregory’s gimmer, 11TGO00019. Sired by Edstaston Informe she is out of a dam by Parkgate Highlander and sold in lamb to Glyn Coch Main Man to J Keys, Stranraer.
An 1100gns bid was enough to secure the best of the aged ewes from Logie Durno, a 2010-born daughter of Edstaston Jigsaw out of a dam by Crogham Hannibal II. She is full sister to Logie Durno Klass Act and Logie Durno Jeeves and was in-lamb to Ffrrwd Lord of the Ring. Buying her was Ben James, Tenbury Wells.
The last one at 1000gns or more was a gimmer from David Mawhinney’s Rockvilla flock at 1000gns. She is by Honddu Investigator and out of a dam by Logie Durno Finnegan. Bought by Matthew Simpson, Kilmarnock, she was in-lamb to Logie Durno Lotus.
