A brace of 3500gns bids were the top prices at today’s Blonde sale, Carlisle. First of the day at this price was the junior male champion Lochhead Gavin from Messrs Laird.

This son of Lochhead Dam Good Bull is out of Lochhead Doris, a Gala Ambassador daughter. He sold across the Irish sea to AI Services, Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland.

Second at the level was Ramrig Gladiator the third prize bull from Messrs Hamilton. Sired by Hallfield Destiny he is out of Freefield C-Tegan, an Ardmore Principal daughter. He was snapped up by S and D Blaylock, Coldstream.

And at 2800gns was Ark Francis from Alan Keith. This one, a son of Whistley Dollar, is out of Ark Verity, an Ashtonlodge Jet daughter and found a new home with W J Scott, Hexham.

Just 100gns shy of that at 27000gns was Hilltop Giles from A J and C D Scott. He’s by Shapfell Bongo out of Hilltop Champagne, a Megray Senator daughter and was bought by M K Harrison, Shap, Penrith.

Best of the day in the females was Hillhead Foxtrot at 1800gns, the reserve female champion from Hillhead Blondes. She’s by Sauveur and out of Hillhead Natasha, an Igance daughter. Taking her home was J Smith, Driffield.

Averages; seven bulls £2820, four females £1443.75 (Harrison and Hetherington).
