Taking the overall championship was the female champion, Dirnanean Kitty 2 from David and Lesley Sapsed, with this Halenook Panache daughter being out of Dirnanean Kitty. She was shown with her bull calf at foot.</p>

<p>In reserve spot in the females and reserve overall champion was Boddington Estate&#8217;s heifer with calf at foot, Sterling Krumpet&#8217;s Britney. Sired by Sterling Flint she is out of Sterling Hawaii&#8217;s Krumpet and was again shown with a bull calf at foot.</p>
<p>Taking the male championship was the senior bull class winner Lissglass Barnabus from David Donnelly, a Raceview Stanley son out of Glenturk Tessa.</p>

<p>Reserve male champion was Sterling Cotswold from Boddington Estates, with this being a Corrick Kentucky Kid son out of Sterling Joyfull&#8217;s Ritzy.</p>
<p>In the junior championship the winner was Hirwaun Dazzler from A Davies, with this being Hirwaun Rooney and out of Hirwaun Vanity. Reserve was the junior female champion, David and Lesley Sapsed&#8217;s Heathbrow Sarah&#8217;s Diamond, a Heathbrow Allstar daughter out of Dirnanean Sarah.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Taking the red ticket in the first of the Simmental bull classes here at Cheshire Show was Hirwaun Dazzler from A Davies, this one is by Hirwaun Vanity, second spot was filled by Beanhill Digger from Messrs Kimber, he&#8217;s by Curaheen Tyson and third was Mike Hind with Ravensdale Dictator, a Heathbrow Wizard son.</p>

<p>And in the second class it was a win for Atlow DD from David Donnelly, second was Heathbrow Dominator from David and Lesley Sapsed, he&#8217;s by Dirnean Telstar, and third was Hirwaun Del Boy from A Davies, a Banwy T-Rex son.</p>
<p>Taking the junior bull championship was Hirwaun Dazzler from A Davies, this is a son of Hirwaun Rooney.</p>
<p>Sterling Cotswold then took top honours in the first of the senior bull classes for Boddington Estates. He&#8217;s by Corrick Kentucky Kid and stood ahead of second placed bull Greenfields Chisel 11, a Greenfields Viper son and in third was Paul Gunther with Fircovert Chester, a Blackford Harvester son.</p>
<p>The final bull class of the morning was won by Lissglass Barnabus from David Donnelly, a Raceview Stanley daughter. Second to him was Wroxhall Wallace from the Evans family, a Vingergard Texas son.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: left;">Jimmy MacMillan and the Boddington Estate team were back on winning ways in the first of the cow classes, taking the red ticket with Sterling Krumpet&#8217;s Britney, a Sterling Flint daughter shown with her bull calf at foot. Second in this class was Messrs Barlow with Melody 10, an Ashland Tornado daughter and third was Beanhill Butter from Messrs Kimber, she&#8217;s by Omorga Volvo.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Judge Robert MacGregor of the Team herd has judging well underway here at Cheshire Show in the National Simmental Show, with the first heifer class won by David and Lesley Sapsed with Heathbrow Sarah&#8217;s Diamond, a Heathbrow Allstar daughter, second was Hayley Clarke with Williams Wendy&#8217;s Dromeda, a Heathbrow Tristar daughter and third was Mike Hind with Ravensdale Goldie 11, a Heathbrown Wizard daughter.</p>
<p>In the day&#8217;s second class it was a win for Boddington Estate&#8217;s with Sterling Wenona&#8217;s Divina, a Dovefields Gallant daughter, second to her was Scarthingwell Damesfly, a Heywood Andrew daughter from Messrs Pick and third was another from the same home, Scarthingwell Dove, an Omorga Regan daughter.</p>
<p>The junior heifer championship was then won by the winner of the first class, Heathbrow Sarah&#8217;s Diamond, with Boddington Estate&#8217;s reserve.</p>
<p>In the third of the day&#8217;s heifer classes the winner was Boddington Estates with Sterling Petra&#8217;s Cairo, a Dovefields Gallant daughter, second was Raceview Cinderella Kim, a Raceview King Bat daughter from Mike Barlow and third was Anne Jukes with Swallowhill Charity, a Blackford Tonka daughter.</p>
<p>The fourth of the heifer classes was won by David Donnelly with Redrose Crystal, an Atlow Awesome daughter, with Mike Hind second with Ravensdale Olive 5, a Heathbrow Wizard daughter and third was Anne Jukes with Swallowhill Calico, a Blackford Tonka daughter.</p>
<p>The final of the heifer classes was taken by David and Lesley Sapsed with Heathbrow Caramel, with this heifer then going on to be senior heifer champion. Second in this class was Sterling Nova&#8217;s Candy from Boddington Estates, with Key Grace from the Key family in third. She is by Hollingwood Tom.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Lurgan Show was the venue for the NI Simmental Cattle Breeders’ Club’s junior heifer derby, which saw the hotly contested competition judged by Michael Robson from Doagh, County Antrim.</p>

<p>Overall winner was the September 2012-born Scribby Farms Daisy shown by the husband and wife team of Keith and Andrea Nelson, Rosslea, County Fermanagh.  This nine-month-old heifer is sired by the herd’s jointly owned 10,000gns stock bull Drumlone Anchor – junior and supreme Stirling champion in October 2010 &#8211; and is out of a Raceview King daughter – one of 20 cows in the herd founded in 2002.</p>
<p>“My winner is a very sweet, showy young heifer with great hindquarters and a leg in every corner,” commented Michael Robson.</p>
<p>Runner-up was the August 2012 born Ballymoney Dora, from Noel Kilpatrick’s five-cow herd based at Banbridge, County Down. Sired by Celtic Rock, she is out of a Kilbride Farm Newry daughter purchased privately from David Reily’s Knocknamuckley herd.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>With the Burke Trophy continuing it&#8217;s peripatetic existence and touring the major English shows this year it was the turn of the Royal Bath and West to host the competition and Staffordshire-based Danny Wyllie to undertake the judging duties.</p>
<p>Taking the title this year were the Aberdeen-Angus pair of Kingsbrompton Missethels Endeavour G563 and Tofts Prona D680, from Colin Hutchings and Paul and Kirsty Westaway, respectively.</p>

<p>Endeavour is a son of Curzon Endeavour out of Colin’s former show cow Kingsbrompton Miss Ethel D292, while Prona D680 is sired by Blelack Lord Hildago A234.</p>
<p>Standing reserve were the Limousin duo of Foxhill Gracie and Culnagechan Giantscauseway from the Alford family and Nick and Lisa Hill. Gracie is a Vantastic daughter out of Bankdale Alice, a Sympa daughter, while Giantscauseway is sired by Carmorn Copilot and is out of a Tanat Mostyn daughter.</p>

<p>The Young Show Stars Challenge saw 10 teams taking part this year, the teams were put through their paces by the panel of judges throughout the day including washing, clipping, showing and marketing. Winning the Duke of Northumberland Trophy and a trip to Canada this autumn with a score of 908 were the &#8216; Welsh All Blacks &#8216;, the team consisted of James Nixon, Powys, Rhys Francis, Carmarthen and Rhun Davies.</p>

<p>Having won the heifer championship this morning, Trevor and Jonathan Lyon&#8217;s home bred Limousin cross Temptation took the overall championship making it a very worth wile journey for the Lincolnshire based family. This January-born heifer is by Rossignol and has previously won first calf at Smithfield 2012 and was home bred champion at Newark last week, her next outing will be Hertfordshire this weekend.</p>

<p>After much deliberation in the steer championship Elfed Williams gave the championship to Mike, Melanie and Charlotte Alford with the 504kg Harlem Shake. This January-born pure Limousin steer was bred by O J Kendall and purchased from Leyburn.</p>

<p>Standing reserve to him was the Edwards family with the second prize 478kg Mr Dyson. This April-born pure Limousin is by Liscon Bigshow and was purchased at Ruthin from breeders Bowen and Bowen, he will compete on the North Wales circuit and is entered for the Royal Welsh.</p>

<p>Both of the championship winners came from the first Limousin steer class, standing third to them were the Coney family with the 468kg Hit Man.</p>
<p>Taking the red rosette in the second Limousin class were Trevor and Jonathan Lyon with the 566kg Jagger, second went the way of Gilbert Brooke with the 560kg pure steer Roxy Boy, while third here was the Lyon family this time with the 560kg Hugo.</p>
<p>Winning the British Blue steers was Neil Slack with the 430kg Maximum, standing in second were the Hardy family with the 451kg British Blue cross 007.</p>

<p>First prize Charolais went to the Sedgewick and Slack partnership with the 694kg Rizzle Kicks.</p>
<p>Next was the any other continental class, this was won by Edd Morgan with the 440kg Blonde steer Mr Muscle.</p>
<p>The final class of steers was for a purchase at public auction for no more that £1250, first place went to the Edwards family with the 409kg pure Limousin Tiny Tempah. Standing second to him was Lin Pidsley with the 558kg Limousin cross Ne-Yo and third went to the Hardy family with the 451kg British Blue cross Skyfall.</p>
