Caylers Goliath, a son of Clonoulty Andraemon has taken the championship in the pre-sale show at Welshpool Charolais sale this morning, under judge Ian Bell of the Hallbankgate herd. This one is an April 2011-born bull out of Caylers Almond, a Kelton Tribune daughter.
Taking the reserve overall spot was Moelfre Gerald, a January 2011-born Newhouse Chicago son out of Moelfre Angherard, a Thrunton Torreador daughter.
Selling is underway now, with the senior bulls working away at prices of 3000gns and above, according to our spies.
Winning the first class of the day was the eventual reserve champion, Moelfre Gerald (lot 14), with second spot taken by Draig Fergus (lot 6).
In the second class the winner was Pennal General (lot 27), with Trefaldwyn Goldfinger (lot 29) taking second spot, then in class three the winner was Sarkley General (lot 45), while second to him was Moathall Gangster.
Class four was then won by the day’s overall champion, Caylers Golaith (lot 58), with Llangrove General in second place. In the next class the winner was Moelfre Gladstone (lot 83), with second place going to Deunawd Greg.
The sixth class of the day was then won by Moelfre Grandprix (lot 101), while the blue ticket went to Castellmawr Gwynedd (lot 90). The following class saw the top spot claimed by Deunawd Gethin (lot 105) and second to him was Sarkley Glenfiddich (lot 108).
In the day’s final class the winner was Moelfre Gallileo (lot 119), with the second prize winner in this class being Cloybank Gareth.Read more
