Today’s Simmental sale at Roscommon, Eire, has been topped at €10,500 by the female champion, Mark Neenan’s Fearna Countess Jubilee, a Hillcrest Jerome daughter out of the Milton Lord-Tiffany daughter Fearna Tiffany. She sold to Brian Allen and Joe Campbell.

Leading the male prices were a pair of bulls at €5000. First at this money was Raceview Carlos, a son of Kilbride Farm Newry out of Raceview Wewry Matilda 419, a Seabank Flint daughter.

The other bull at €5000 was the reserve senior champion, Tulla Classic from Denis O’Halloran. This is another Kilbride Farm Newry son and is out of Tulla Vanessa, a Ballyduff Jeweller daughter.

Selling at €4500 was the reserve female champion Garrett and Lyndsey Behan’s Clonagh Diamond Eyes, again by Banwy T-Rex this time out of Milton Senhorita.

Then making €4400 was the senior champion, Garrett and Lyndsey Behan’s Jennalyn Charlie Rose. This one was the winner of the first class of bulls and is by the herd’s senior sire Banwy T-Rex out of Jennalyn Tara-Rose, a Marbellhill Liam daughter.

Following him at €4000 was the junior champion from the pre-sale show Coolatinny Dell Boy from Noel Forde. By Curaheen Tyson this one is out of Lisnacran Themlma, a Hurtig daughter.

The day’s reserve junior champion, Barnattin Dinny 2 from Derek Costello then sold at €3800. By Kilbride Farm Newry, this one is out of the Seepa Teejay daughter Barnattin Amanda.

The best of the Limousin bulls sold at 7000gns at Thainstone this afternoon, matching the centre record for this breed, with this price paid for Messrs Ogg’s Buchaam Gigantic (lot 44), an Ironstone Bomber son out of Buchaam Christina, a Walkers Travada daughter. This one was knocked down to Ian Wilson, Torphins.

After that came a 6000gns sale for the Work family’s Dumbreck Glenlivit (lot 51), a son of the prolific Wilodge Vantastic out of Dumbreck Roxetter, a Broadmeadows Cannon daughter. He found a new home with E and S Jaffrey, Banchory.

And selling for 5500gns was Aultmore Giggs (lot 45), a Casimir son out of Greenwell Dynasty, a Vagabond daughter. Just shy of that at 5000gns was Buchaam Gambit from the Oggs (lot 42). Another by Ironstone Bomber, he is out of Buchaam Countess, a Ramses daughter.

In the Simmentals the best call was 7200gns made for Drumsleed Challenger (lot 79) from Gerald Smith. Sired by Kilbride Farm Newry he is out of Drumsleed Ruby, a Craighill Laser daughter. He sold to previous buyers Messrs Jaffrey.

With a clearance of 79%, today’s sale of Simmental bulls has seen an average of £5665 for 121 bulls sold which is back by £571 on last year’s sale but for two more bulls sold.

Overall we thought it would have been a stronger average, but that shouldn’t detract from what was a solid sale throughout and Simmental breeders should go away from here feeling thoroughly pleased with their day’s work! Let’s see what the Charolais bulls have to offer tomorrow.

Gordon Clarke’s Broombrae Caledonian (lot 252) has just sold for 5000gns.   Sired by Corskie Voyage and out of the Woodhall Regent daughter, Broombrae Cathy this one carried a TSI of +101 and an SRI of +104.   The very next bull, Corskie Challenger(lot 253)  from Iain Green also made 5000gns.   By Popes Laird and out of a Ballinlare Farm Nightrider daughter this one carries an SRI of +108.

Next up was another from the Robson family’s Kilbride String.   Kilbride Farm Cuban(lot 254) went through at 5500gns.   A Seaview Prince Charming son out of a Newry dam he sold with a TSI of +90 and an SRI of +98.    Following straight on was another from Iain Green,  Corskie Cannon(lot 255) which traded at 9500gns.   A son of Islavale Sabre out of the Popes Laird daughter Corskie Alisha he went with a TSI of +93 and an SRI of +102.

First prize winner from Dennis Mitchell, Thursford Casino (lot 259) has just sold away at 4800gns.   This one was a Blair Rory son and out of Halenook Lex Script daughter Thursford Tess.

Ranfurly Charlie(lot 261) from David Hazelton has kept trade ticking on selling at 4600gns.   A son of Raceview King and out of the Dovefields Gallant dam Old Engine Guinevere he sold with an SRI of +106.

Rory Bell’s second prizewinner Teviot Challenger (lot 265) has just gone through at 9000gns.   A son of Arkmill Franklyn he is out of an AGP Emperor daughter Teviot Jacke.   His ET brother Teviot Celebrity (268) has just gone through at 4200gns.

Ranfurly Challenger (lot 269) from David Hazelton has just sold at 5000gns.   An ET son of Hillcrest Champion he was out of the Whitemire King Kong daughter South Park King Kong Weikel 2nd.   The Hazelton’s followed that with a sale at 5200gns for Ranfurly Confederate (lot 271), a Cleenagh Flasher son out of the Kilbride Farm Newry daughter Raceview Aishling Matilda.   He carries an SRI of +104.

That wraps up a great days trading for the Simmental breed.   With the breed record absolutely smashed and a really strong sale throughout,  the average and clearance rate should also read very well for the breed.   We will get the averages to you as soon as we have them.

Next in the money is John Jeffrey with Kersknowe Casanova (lot 226), a starline Apollo son out of a Dirnanean Salvador dam, kersknowe Wench. This one was knocked down at 8500gns.

The Ward family have sold Westridge Carlos (lot 229), a Ranfurly Amigo son, for 5500gns. This one is out of Westridge Pedro Maybelle, an Orlando Pedro.

Iain Green was back in the action reaping back some of his earlier investment selling Corskie Churchill (lot 231), a Celtic starbuck son out of a Burghbridge Lane daughter, for 4800gns. Then trading at 4500gns was the Soutar family selling Peasiehill Callum (lot 233), a Teviot Wayfarer son.

Yet another from the Robson family Kilbride Farm Corfu (lot 237) has sold to Liam Muir for 5000gns. This is another son of Islavale Amigo and out of a Dovefields Gallant daughter.

Then straight after was one of the Farming Eye picks from Iain Green, Corskie Curry (lot 238). By Corskie Valiant 2nd, this one is out of a Ballinalare Farm Knightrider daughter and sold for 7200gns.

Selling for 4200gns was Tillyeve Cluny (lot 239) from the Bruce family. This second prize Kilbride Farm Vernon son is out of a Glenturk Rolex daughter. Next up after a few unsold bulls was Gerald and Morag Smith with Drumsleed Canyon (lot 245), another Ashland Perfect son out of a beeches Kestrel daughter and sells with a TSI of +105 and a SRI of +115. he sold at 5800gns.

Not just because of a new record has been set today, but this is quite possibly one of the best Simmental sales I’ve sat through for some time as trade continues to ramp on.

Next in the money was the McGowan’s again, this time selling Dirnanean Chief (lot 162), a Hillcrest Sylvester son out of a Richwood Bruno daughter. Then next up is Stuart Ridland selling Berga Cassius (lot 163) for 5000gns. This is a Raceview King son and is out of a Ballinalare Farm Knightrider dam Corskie Verda.

Then selling for 7500gns was the first prize Beechtree Challenger (lot 164) from David Burkhill. By Keeldrum Schubert, this is out of a beechtree kinsman daughter.

Kenny Veitch’s Woodford Crackerjack (lot 167) – bred by the Gorman family – has gone at 7200gns. This is a Newry son out of a Ballintlea King daughter Woodford Paul.

Yet another good bull from David and Joy Lowry has just gone at 6500gns selling to Terry Coghill. Keeldrum Carlton (lot 168) is by Hillcrest Valentine he is out of a Milnafua Junior daughter.

A very happy Anne and her mother as they leave the ring with Capercaillie

Absolutely blowing the UK record (previously set three times at 22,000gns for Omorga Samson, Dirnanean Typhoon and Dirnanean Bradley) and selling for a whopping 45,000gns was the senior and overall champion Bel Dhu Capercaille from Billy, Judy and daughter Anne MacPherson. By the 16,000gns Hockenhull Waterloo, he is out of the former supreme champion and 10,000gns Kilbride Farm Strabane daughter Blackford Wagtail. Buyers here were the judge Iain Green of the Corskie herd and commercial suckler producer Andrew Anderson of Smallburn Farms.

The intermediate champion Annick Clansman from Lachlan Quarm has followed up selling for 11,000gns. By Skerrington Visa, he is out of the Sterling Nelson 2nd daughter Annick Primrose.

Just after that the reserve intermediate champion Lisglass Churchill (lot 176) from Lesley Weatherup has gone at 9500gns. This one is an Omorga Volvo son out of the Whitemire King Kong daughter Glenturk Tess and was knocked down to Boddington Estates.

Continuing a phenomonal trade for these Simmental bulls is Gerald and Morag Smith with Drumsleed Casino (lot 155), a second prize Ashland Perfect son out of a Craighill Laser daughter Drumsleed. This one carries a SRI of +102 and sold for 10,500gns.

The best from David Lowry, Keeldrum Capone (lot 130) is currently jointly leading trade at 12,000gns. By Hillcrest Valentine, this one is out of the Caldwell Potentate daughter Keeldrum Fancy. Buyer here was NCBC, Ireland.

Then in was Colin Inglis with Greencap Conqueror (lot 133), a Slievenagh Wyatt son out of a Starline Klassic daughter, selling for 5000gns.

Another from a strong string of Bulls from David Lowry, Keeldrum Calvert (lot 136) has just sold away for 6,500gns.  This one was sired by Overhill House Volvo, out of a Milnafua Junior dam, Keeldrum Tzigane.

Northern Irish breeder William Ferguson has just sold his Sperrin View Challenger (lot 142) for 6,500 gns.   A son of Keeldrum Schubert, out of a Kilbride Farm Newry daughter, he sells to Mr Ducan.

Second prizewinner Glenturk Cognac has just taken a final bid of 7,500gns.   By Celtic Rock and out of a Islavale Joseph daughter this one carries an SRI of 109.

The reserve senior and reserve overall champion Islavale Chip (lot 120) from the Stronach family is currently topping trade selling for 12,000gns. By Glenturk Premier this one is out of the Kilbride Farm Newry daughter Islavale Wonder. As of yet I’m not sure of the buyer.

Just before that Messrs Gwynne sold Chestermann Cecil (lot 119), a Blackford Ringleader son out of a Hockenhull Maverick daughter, for 5000gns.

The fourth prize Drumsleed Conan from Gerald Smith has gone at 5800gns. By Ashland Perfect, this one is out of a Sterling Mars 2nd daughter and has a SRI of +99.

William Ferguson’s Sperrin View Crossfire (lot 124) is the next in the money selling for 6000gns. This is a Curaheen Tyson son out of a Newry daughter.

And continuing a great offering of senior bulls is Pat and Frank Kelly selling Ashland Carlow (lot 125) for 4800gns. This is a Kilbride Farm Ahoghill son out of one of the best cows in the herd Ashland Lucy. The ward family then sold Westridge Clyde (lot 126) for 5000gns. By Burghbridge Legend, he is out of a Hockenhull Maverick daughter.

Back with the Stronach’s now and Islavale Chancer (lot 127) has gone at 6000gns. By Glenturk Premier this one is out of the Darhsam Lucky Strike daughter Islavale Virginia.

The sale ring is absolutely packed here for Simmental bull trade with the first to sell for good money is the third prize Broombrae Corker (lot 89) selling for 5200gns. By Woodhall Regent, this one is out of a Milnafue Kent daughter and sold to Ted Fox.

At the same money was Whiteknowes Carter (lot 91), an Innerwick Winchester son out of a Darsham Lucky Strike daughter.Then at 4000gns was Bruchag Corker (lot 92), a Braegarrie Wisdom son out of a Woodhall Klinsman daughter carrying a SRI of +105.

The second prize Dirnanean Classic (lot 95) has followed up selling for 9000gns. By Dirnanean Telstar, he is out of a Dovefields Gallant daughter Hockenhull Girlie 13th and sold to Teasers Farms.

After a bit of a slow run we’re now on to the second prize Glenturk Chicago (lot 111) by Celtic Rock out of the Whitemire King Kong daughter Glenturk Sian. This one went at 4500gns to the Crofters Commission.

Then at 7200gns was Wolfstar Claymore (lot 114) selling to Iain Mathers. This one is by Tillymaud Nominator and is out of a Hiltonstown Salomon daughter Wolfstar Wannabe.

Douglas Smith’s first prize Boswell Cracker (lot 116) has been knocked down at 10,000gns. By Ashland Perfect, this one is out of the Beeches Kestrel daughter Boswell Precious and carries a TSI of +94 and a SRI of +100. Buyer here was Robert MacGregor of the Team herd.
